This is a small shop of 35sq.m. located on the central shopping street of the town of Gerakas. The street front is fragmented and oversaturated by the various signs. In an area where the personal expression dominates public space, one of the main design principles was to restrain the intervention within the limits of the property.

The façade of the store is the starting point of a metal grid that transcends the space. This system organizes the functions and divides the shop into different areas. The secondary ceiling that is created is used for the linear lighting, highlighting the presence of the structure.

The store is realized in three sections. The first, located at the front is the entrance and the display.  The second, at the center, is the main shopping space. The last section at the back is separated by curtains and hosts the more private functions, like the changing room, the storage and the WC.

Another division into three zones occurs in the opposite direction. Each zone corresponds to the different kinds of merchandise, kids’ clothing, women’s clothing and home wear. The latter, together with the counter, are located on pedestals at the center of the shop.

In terms of materials, all elements and surfaces are covered in off white colored cement. The metal structure is painted white by contrast, and serves as the continuation of the façade. The canopy of the entrance composes the sole signage of the shop. It is a metal box that encases the external part of the a/c. In that way the incorporation of a mechanical element, that always poses a design challenge, becomes a principal feature.
